Huehuemahuitztilia

I am so honored to have been able to paint my friend Aquihua who I asked to give it a title. Of course he chose the perfect name and exactly what I had been thinking of all along.

Huehuemahuitztilia which means Honoring the Ancestors in Nahuatl.

Painting this idea was a great experience, it helped me to focus and get back to what I love about watercolor, highlighting what I know, trying new colors, exploring new ways of working and thinking about what I do. This happens to be the first time I've ever painted butterflies, I liked the way they turned out but I like what they represent even more.
